Carpentier, Balloons towards England
historically highly interesting depiction of a rising hot-air balloon with the inscription "Napoleon Prem... de France Imperata", which is blown towards England by the devil sitting on a balloon, in the lower part French soldiers in uniforms of the time between 1800 and 1810, at the lower edge inscribed "Volks- und Soldatenfest in Paris bey welchem sehr ergoetzliche Ballone auf die Vernichtung Englands losgelaßsen", gold etching, early 19th c., signed "Charpentier del." in the image, slight paint chips in the margins, minor signs of age, oval framed (frame with minor defects in preservation), visible dimensions approx. 36 x 26 cm.
