Powerful dynamic depiction of a rising stallion, chalk lithograph, c. 1920, signed in lead below the depiction "WKlemm", partly illegibly inscribed in lead at the lower edge of the sheet "Orig. Steinz. Steigender ...hengst", light margins, framed behind glass, dimensions approx. 25 x 20 cm. Artist's info: German painter, graphic artist and illustrator (1885 Karlsbad [Karlovy Vary] to 1957 Weimar), studied 1901-04 art history at the University of Vienna with Julius von Schlosser, parallel studies at the School of Applied Arts and the Academy of Vienna with Anton von Kenner, Kolo Moser, F. Myrbach and others, 1905 participation in the exhibition of the Vienna Secession and move to Prague, 1906 studio community with Carl Thiemann in Libotz near Prague, from 1908 in the artists' colony Dachau, 1910 member of the Berlin Secession, 1913 appointment as professor at the Weimar Academy, undertook numerous study trips, received several honours, among others honorary senator of the Weimar College of Architecture and Building in 1952, member of the Association of Visual Artists (VBK) of the GDR, Source: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Eisold "Künstler in der DDR", Dressler and Internet.
