Petaca colonial espanhola, do séc. XVI
Spanish colonial petaca, from the 16th century, in wood, lined with leather and leather, embroidered with straw forming a geometric pattern and stylized motifs. Reinforcements and hardware in iron, original. Traces of woodworm, oxidation, flaws, flaws and defects. Dim. approx.: 46 x 83 x 49 cm. The term "petaca" derives from "petlacalli", a chest or basket of Aztec origin, used in the 16/17th centuries to store the trousseau. It was part of the furniture used in Spanish viceroyalties in America. The petacas, when they had iron handles on the sides, were used for travel.
