Siddur "Chemdat Yisrael" - Kavanot of the Holy Ari as recorded by Rabbi Shmuel Vital, First Edition, Munkatch 1901 – Printed by the Holy Rebbi, author of "Minchat Elazar" of Munkatch.

Segula! "It is my sincere advice that one should acquire this siddur, to have it as an excellent protection in their home from any plague, illness, and for abundant blessing and success in children, life, and sustenance" (from the endorsement of the Imrei Yosef of Spinka).

Siddur "Chemdat Yisrael" with the kavanot of the Holy Ari, compiled by Rabbi Shmuel Vital – one of the most important kabbalistic siddurim.

Munkatch, 1901. First Edition.

This siddur was first published by the Holy Rebbi, author of "Minchat Elazar" of Munkatch, from a manuscript written by Rabbi Shmuel Vital, which had once been in the possession of the esteemed Gaon the Chid''a.

The manuscript had been safeguarded by the Holy Rebbi, author of "Divrei Yechezkel" of Shinova, who entrusted it to the Holy Rebbi of Munkatch to publish.

In his introduction, the author Rabbi Shmuel Vital writes that the text of this siddur is "the finest sifted flour from the intentions of the Ari... and I am assured by the Divine Grace that through this siddur, the earth will be filled with the knowledge of God..."

The siddur is adorned with important endorsements from some of the greatest and most holy tzaddikim, who elaborate on the great praise and segula of this siddur:

- The Holy Rebbi Moshe of Shinova.
- The Holy Rebbi, author of "Darkei Teshuva" of Munkatch.
- The Holy Rebbi Moshe of Des.
- The Holy Rabbi, author of "Arugat HaBosem" of Khust.
- The Holy Rebbi, author of "Ahavat Yisrael" of Vizhnitz.
- The Holy Rebbi, author of "Darkei Teshuva" of Munkatch.
- The Holy Rebbi, author of "Imrei Yosef" of Spinka.
- The Holy Rebbi, author of "Bnei Shloshim" of Kossov.
- The Holy Rebbi Yehuda Tzvi of Dolina.

The Siddur's Segula:

The publisher, the Holy Rebbi of Munkatch, wrote a lengthy introduction at the beginning of the siddur about the transmission of the manuscript until it was brought to light, and in it, he highly praises the text, concluding with a blessing: "May the merit of the holy author protect us in all our desires, etc., and may we be remembered with salvation and mercy."

"And even for those who are not engaged in the esoteric, it is my sincere advice that one should acquire this siddur, to have it as an excellent protection in their home from any plague, illness, and for abundant blessing and success in children, life, and sustenance" (from the endorsement of the Holy Rabbi, author of "Imrei Yosef" of Spinka).

"It is effective for body and soul to be protected from all pain and harm when this holy siddur is in one's home" (from the endorsement of the Holy Rabbi Yosef of Kossov, author of "Bnei Shloshim").

Indeed, it is well accepted among the Chassidim that keeping the siddur in the home serves as protection.

For more on the siddur see: "Siddur Chemdat Yisrael" by Rabbi Shmuel Vital - an unknown section, in: Mekabtziel, Torah Insights Collection, Issue 23, Tishrei 1997, pages 301-305. The author distinguishes between the first part of the siddur, which includes annotations by Rabbi Shmuel Vital and is based on "Shaar HaKavanot" (in brief), and the second part, which does not include Rabbi Shmuel Vital's annotations and is based on a different book, "similar in language to Pri Etz Chaim." In his opinion, the second part of this siddur is not Rabbi Shmuel Vital's original work, and the original work is still in manuscript form.
