Copy of the Shoproner Ruv Sefer Kesubah, which is the first section of the Sefer Haflo’ah (the second being the Sefer Ha’Makneh). Classic work of novella on Maseches and Hilchos Kesubos, by R. Pinchos HaLevi Horowitz. R. Pinchos Ha’Levi Horowitz (1730- 1805), was one of the most prominent talmidim of the Maggid of Mezritch. He served as Rav in various communities including Vitkova, Lechowitz and most notably Frankfurt. He was renowned as a great Rav and Posek as well as a prolific writer and is often referred to as “The Haflo’ah” after his work on Maseches Kesubos. He had many distinguished talmidim, most notably the Chasam Sofer. Rabbi Shimon Yisrael Posen (1894-1969), was born in Frankfurt and moved to Hungary where he was drawn to Chasidut, and was a student of the ”Minchat Elazar” of Munkatsch. One of the leaders of Orthodox Jewry and zealots in Hungary. After the holocaust he immigrated to the United States, where he established a yeshivah and became one of the leading Charedi rabbis in the United States.
