(1954) Alexander Vedernikov. "At the Griboyedov Canal and the Kryukov Canal", 1954, color lithograph, signed and dated by the author, penciled inscriptions on the back (pictured), in the upper part the lithograph is glued to the lining in good condition.
Vedernikov Alexander Semenovich (1898 - 1975) - painter, graphic artist. In 1921-1923 he studied at the Art College in Nizhny Novgorod under A.V. Kuprin and A.V. Fonvizin, then in 1924-1927 - at the Leningrad VKHUTEIN under I.E. Braz and A.E. Karev. In 1927 he left his studies without completing the course (he defended his diploma in 1954 at the graphic faculty of the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad). Since 1928 he took part in exhibitions. In 1928 he became a member of the "Circle of Artists" association. In the 1930s he painted landscapes of Leningrad. From 1939 he worked in the experimental workshop of the Leningrad Union of Artists, researched the possibilities of color printing, and developed his own printing system. In 1945 he made sketches of monuments of Russian architecture destroyed during the war in Pskov, Tsarskoe Selo, Pulkovo. In 1945, a personal exhibition of the artist's works was held in Leningrad. In 1950-1970 he worked a lot in the field of easel lithography. In 1936-1937 he taught at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Architecture and Sculpture, in 1936-1960 - at the Leningrad Institute of Municipal Construction Engineers. The works are kept in many museum and private collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum, Pushkin Museum im. A.S. Pushkin.
