TWO ‘BLUE AND WHITE’ DISHES China, Ming dynasty, late 15th – early 16th century 13,5 and 17,5 cm diam The interior decorated with a lion surrounded by ribbons, on the reverse a light lotus scroll. Provenance: Acquired before 1975. Similar dishes have been found in the wreck of the Brunei junk; see also M. Crick, Chinese Trade Ceramics for South-East Asia from the 1st to the 17th Century.
