VALTURIO, Roberto (1405-1475) - De re militari libris XII. Paris: Chrétien Wechel, 1534. A complete copy of the second French edition of this fundamental work on war machines with the fine plates from the 1483 Verona edition. Other copies on the market in recent years usually had conservation issues or were incomplete. Folio (313 x 206mm). Printer's device on title and at end, numerous woodcut illustrations, some full-page, woodcut initials (some spotting, light occasional browning, L3 with small burn-hole, Z3 with small paperflaw, final leaf with removed stamp). Modern vellum. Provenance: some early annotations (sometimes cropped) - Ladisla Reti (bookplate).
