Oil paint on canvas depicting "The Maddalena in meditation and penance" known for the Guido Reni's work (Bologna 1579-1642). 106x83 cm. Frameless.
The piece of art is inspired by Guido Reni's work made in 1630, although there are variations in color and composition. The work is made in counterparty than the original. Probably the artist painted it watching the incision. The painting has been subjected to investigation with macro-XRF imaging techniques that constitute the work outfit whose conclusions state that the painting is compatible with the seventeenth century, in fact all of pigments belonging to the period indicated above. Interesting aspects may be considered variants that brings the painter of the painting respect to the work of the kidneys, in fact it has some chromatic variations such as the dress of the Magdalene, the Angels painted as a "zefferini" only with heads and wings, also the size of the cross and the presence of the Grail and books that do not appear in the original, the background landscape is quite different.
The examination of macro-XRF non-invasive imaging was performed by Prof. Francesco Paolo Romano of the University of Nuclear Physics of Catania and is attached to the work.
