A RUSSIAN VINTAGE ICON OUR LADY OF CZESTOCHOWA
A vintage icon, hand-painted wood in a brass setting with traces of gilding. The Virgin Mary is portrayed as "Hodegetria" ("Pointing the Way"). In it, the Mother of God points with her right hand to Jesus as the source of salvation. In turn, the child extends his right hand to the viewer in blessing, and in his left hand holds the book of the Gospels.
