Letter dated 1864, written in response to the proposal of R. Eliezer Lipman Silberman of Lyck, editor of Hamaggid, to publish a book containing letters of appreciation and blessings to Sir Moses Montefiore from rabbis and communities around the Jewish world. In this letter, Rabbi Mordechai Meir Pollack, then Rabbi of Weisskirchen, support Rabbi Silberman’s idea and praise Sir Moses Montefiore for his activities to help Jews around the world.
Rabbi Mordechai Meir Pollack (1830-1895), a disciple and attendant of the Kesav Sofer of Pressburg, and son-in-law of Rabbi Yehuda Yitzchak Leib Freistadt of Vienna. Rabbi of Weisskirchen and Hellischau. Dayan in Vienna from 1890.
