Rabbi Menachem Mendel Kirschbaum; letter to Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh Ferber in February 1939, regarding the second volume of his work Menachem Meishiv, and requesting assistance for his son Elazar who had received permission to study at Yeshivas Or Yisrael in London.
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Kirschbaum (1895-1943), b. Cracow, Dayan and later Av Beth Din of Frankfurt. In 1939 he escaped to Brussels where he remained active in religious life, until his deportation and murder in Auschwitz. Author of Tzion LiMenachem.
Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh Ferber (1879-1966), leading London Rabbi and head of the Hisachdus Harabanim in England, born in Lithuania and studied under Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan Spektor of Kovno, Rabbi Yitzchak Blazer and Rabbi Naftali Amsterdam. He was a leading rabbinical scholar and headed an independent community in the West End of London. First Rosh Yeshiva of Manchester Yeshiva. Talented speaker and author of 14 rabbinic works, including Kerem Hatzvi.
