JOHN WAYNE: (1907-1979)
Dated 9th October 1978, on John Wayne's personal printed stationery, to Frederick D. Townsend. Wayne states `You may know that I am a fraternity Brother of yours. Because we´re fellow Sigs, I hope you´ll hear me out for what I have to say comes from my heart.´ further saying `I entered Southern Cal on a football scholarship. I wouldn´t have gone to college otherwise. When the men of Sigma Chi approached me about joining the Fraternity, as a freshman, I didn´t know what to expect. But I joined, and I can tell you that it was one of the most personally rewarding decisions I´ve ever made.´ Wayne concludes saying `I don´t lend my name to many causes but this isn´t exactly ''a cause''. I am writing to you on behalf of our Fraternity…´ Signed by John Wayne.
