“Meleager and Atalanta offering the boar's head to Diana”
Circa 1630-1650. Embossed and polychromed cordovan leather on panel. Two pieces of leather, 55 x 49 cm. each. Total measurements: 101 x 60 cm. It could possibly be a small part of a room divider.
In the Rijksmuseum collection there are some almost identical pieces by Jacob and Abraham De Gecroonde Son Hamer, on the same theme and listed as fragments from room dividing screens.
There are some flaws.
Provenance: Former collection of Mr. Herman Bherens, a German living in Mexico.
