identificações:

Imposing and rare gold and bloodstone jasper seal ring of the Order of the Templars. France. 12th – 13th century.

Diameter: 2,2 cm.
The round stone depicts two knights with their shield and helmet superimposed on their steed. Around them the motto “+ SIGLLVM-MILITVM-XPISTI” is written in Roman letters
The phrase “NON NOBIS DOMINE” is engraved on the external part of the gold ring, which means that no Templar fought for his own glory, or even for the glory of the order, but only for the glory of God, and only in the name of God.
The Templar seal depicts two knights, possibly Hugues de Payns and Godefroy de Saint-Omer on one horse.
There are different interpretations of the symbolism of this seal.
For example, a contemporary legend suggests that the symbol represents the poverty of the order in its origins, as the Templars could only afford one horse for two men. However, the rules of the order from the beginning allowed each knight to own a maximum of three horses, which means that it was very unlikely to see two knights sharing the same horse.
There are dozens of Templar seals: those of the great masters, the visitors, the preceptors, the command, etc. But those of the great masters are extremely rare, such as the one that is kept at the National Archive in Paris. (J. 198B, n ° 100).
It is a round, equestrian 33 mm seal with two horsemen, like this one, and with the same motto written in Roman letters over two lines, with three separation points “ SIGILLVM - MILITUM – XPISTI”
