BITTRICH WILHELM: (1894-1979) German SS-Obergruppenfuhrer and General der Waffen-SS of World War II, Knight's Cross winner with Oakleaves and Swords. Bittrich commanded the 2nd SS Panzer Corps in Normandy and during Operation Market Garden. T.L.S., W Bittrich, one page, 4to, Munsing, 5th May 1968, to Herr van Mastrigt, in German. Bittrich thanks his correspondent for their kind letter and apologises for the delay in replying, explaining that his wife is suffering from cancer for the second time in eighteen months and he has been fully occupied with taking care of her. Bittrich also recommends that his correspondent gets in touch with the publishers Munin and supplies their address in Osnabruck. About EX
