CLEMENT XII: (1652-1740) Pope of the Roman Catholic Church 1730-40. Clement XII started the construction of the Trevi Fountain. Rare L.S., `L.[orenzo] Card.[inal] Corsini´, in his capacity as Cardinal of Santa Susanna 1706-20, one page, 4to, Rome, 7th January 1713, to Gaetano Galletti of Florence, in Italian. The future Pope responds to his correspondent and sends his best greetings stating in part `… Non posso vedermi confermato da V.S. il Suo affetto senza mio molto compiacimento; Ond´e che ben caro m´e stato l´augurio di prosperita da lei inviatomi..´ With address leaf, bearing a paper seal with coat of arms affixed. Autographs of Clement XII are rare, and unknown as Pope, since he was blind since 1732. Small overall minor creasing, otherwise G to VG
