CHRISTIE ETHEL: (1898-1952) English wife of murderer John Reginald Halliday Christie, herself one of his victims who was later discovered strangled under the floorboards of their house at 10 Rillington Place. An extremely rare A.L.S., with love E, two pages, 8vo, 10 Rillington Place, St. Marks Road, London, 1st March 1945, to Eddy (a relative of her sister, Lil Bartle). Christie states that she hopes her correspondent has arrived home safely '& that you were able to get something to eat on the train…..or at a station', adding that she wishes he had taken some sandwiches with him and also asking if he had to make any changes, further remarking 'I have sent you “London Opinion” so I hope you have not bought that' and concluding by writing 'Drop me a line when you are coming & if you are going back (which I hope you are not) bring Lil with you & let me know which day & train you are coming on then we could meet you at the station….'. In a postscript, again signed with her initial E, Christie asks Eddy to 'write soon'. VG
