Important lock with the symbol of the Austrian monarchy in Spain, 17th century. Presumably for a cabinet or chest of notable importance. Double-headed eagle figure (Sacred Empire) in wrought and engraved iron, of remarkable artistic quality. Reverse with the lock integrated in the set. Original key, with striking decoration. Very rare piece and in good condition, functional, 14 cm key.

The House of Austria is the name by which the Habsburg dynasty reigning in the Hispanic Monarchy in the 16th and 17th centuries is known in Spain; from the proclamation as king of Carlos I in 1516, until the death without direct succession of Carlos II in 1700, which caused the War of Spanish Succession.
