A bill to the Shaarei Zedek Medical Center - the Jewish Committee for the Hospital in Frankfurt - circa 1920, rare!
Shaarei Zedek Hospital was founded in 1902, and was the first Jewish hospital outside the walls of the Old City. Its establishment was made possible thanks to the Jewish Committee in Frankfurt, which collected substantial donations to buy a large plot outside the walls.
The note says that it is intended to alleviate the poverty and diseases caused by the war (ie World War I). The bank's guarantor is in Frankfurt.
