José Maria de Sousa Botelho, morgado Matheus, (...) mandou cunhar em Paris uma medalha de cobre, dedicada a Luiz de Camões, quando fez a rica edução dos Lusiadas (...)impressa em Paris no ano de 1817, unicamente para offerecer ás principaes#livrarias da europa, e a algumas pessoas de distinção (...)". (in Lopes Fernandes, Memória das Medalhas e Condecorações Portuguezas, p. 81). Segundo Lopes Fernandes, esta medalha está estampada nas "Memoirs of the life and wrintings of Luiz de Camões", por John Admson. Mossas no rebordo. 50 mm. 61.39 g. LF 91. MBC+.
