A book made of thick, high-quality paper, with a blank cardboard binding with a cloth spine. The book contains twelve tipped-in photographs depicting the ruins of the Atlit fortress by the photographer Erwin Offenbacher.
At the beginning of the book, a handwritten title page and short introduction by Carl Benjamin.
The photographer Erwin Offenbacher (1915-2010), born in Frankfurt, immigrated to Palestine in 1940. Worked as a photographer and teacher and self-published several books.
The writer of the introduction, Carl (Ya'akov) Benjamin (1911-1976), born in Köln, immigrated to Palestine during the 1930s. Benjamin was married for a while to Offenbacher's sister, Lina Irmgard (Devorah).
Photographs: 6.5x12.5 to 8.5x12.5 cm. Book: [17] leaves, 31cm. Good condition. The photographs are glued to leaves of the book by their corners. Several stains. Minor blemishes to binding.
