A Letter from Rebbe Baruch Hager of Seret-Vizhnitz
A letter handwritten and signed by Rebbe Baruch Hager of Seret-Vizhnitz, to the editorial staff of the Hamodia newspaper. Haifa, Iyar 1952.
A letter of protest on the publication of the attack against Po'alei Agudah members in Haifa, in opposition to the demand of the Rebbes of Agudat Yisrael and Po'alei Agudat Yisrael that their newspapers will not attack one another.
Rebbe Baruch Hager of Seret-Vizhnitz (1895-1963, Otzar HaRabbanim 4066), the fourth son of the Ahavat Yisrael of Vizhnitz. By first marriage, he was the son in law of Rebbe Yissachar Dov of Belz, and by second marriage he was son in law of Rebbe Eliezer Nissan Horwitz. He was a Torah genius and received semicha from the Maharam Arik and Rabbi A. M. Steinberg of Brody. He served in the rabbinate from 1923 in Kitsman and Seret. In 1936, he was crowned Rebbe. In 1947, he immigrated to Haifa, where he established his Beit Midrash and a large community that until today is a Torah stronghold in the city of Haifa. A member of Mo'etzet Gedolei HaTorah, a leader of Chinuch Atzmai and Agudat Yisrael.
