Historical Discovery! Composition on the Talmud – Autograph of Rabbi Yechiel Halperin Author of "Seder HaDorot" – has not been Printed – Mid-18th Century

Manuscript, a composition that has not been printed, Talmudic novellae, especially on the the Sugiyot of the Zevachim-Menachot tractates. Autograph of Rabbi Yechiel Halperin Av Beit Din and head of the yeshiva of Minsk, author of "Seder HaDorot". Mid-18th century.

The grandson of the Maharshal – on leaf 3/a the rabbi the author writes, "And I have seen fit to gauge the intent of the genius the Maharshal since I am one of his descendants and the book Chochmat Shlomo was not a composition in itself but was written on the pages of the Gemarot as I have seen with my eyes when I still had two volumes of Sanhedrin and Baba Batra and Gittin Kiddushin Sotah printed in Venice and on its side the handwriting of the Genius the Maharshal and they were burned due to my sins in the community of Kazarnarch with all my books…"

His wonderous son Rabbi Moshe – throughout the book, the rabbi the author refers to novellae by his "wonderous" son Rabbi Moshe. On leaf 6/b "and my wonderous son explained it differently in his youth in 1735 in a sermon about his wedding", on leaf 14/b "and my wonderous rabbinical son M. [Moshe] said that Rashi…", "what my wonderous son sermonized in 1738", "an my wonderous son explained", "and my son the rabbinical Moshe". On leaf 10/b "And my wonderous grandson the bridegroom Yisrael Isrl questioned".

The rabbi the author mentions things he had heard from contemporary rabbis: on leaf 15 "And I have heard from the complete sage the rabbinical M. Chaim of Opatow who studied in Prague". "And the rabbinical M. Ya'akov Krakover of Amsterdam asked questions when I was there in 1728 and they were introduced in the book Beit Yehuda that was printed by Rabbi Leib of Golagi…". "And I have seen in Kushtantina in the house of Rabbi Chaim Kimchi (1660-1732) the handwritten Tosfot Rabbi Yitzchak". "And then I found a question in the book Omer mann (Berlin, 1739) authored by Rabbi Menli of Lvov of behalf of the genius Av Beit Din of Frankfurt". "It seems to me that this is said on behalf of the rabbi C. Folk of Lvov". Among the books he refers to in the manuscript are the following: Zohar printed in Amsterdam, Or Yekarot, Zahav Miksha [maybe should be Miksha Zahav] "and it seems to me to observe the version of the books that were printed in Frankfurt am Mein", Zera Yitzchak and more – all the books and stories referred to by the manuscript are from the late 17th century.

Astounding genius – the rabbi the author moves from Sugiya to Sugiya taken from all over the Talmud, demonstrating astounding and admirable knowledge. This matches what the Chida had written in his book Shem HaGedolim the entry of Seder HaDorot "the order of the generations from the genius Rabbi Yechiel Av Beit Din of Minsk … he showed us his immense knowledge of the Talmud, nothing being missed by him and there it was said that he was the grandson of the genius the Maharshal … and anyone who knows him acknowledges his greatness since the Babylonian and the Jerusalem Talmud and the Midrashim are all known to him as if he owns them. And his long introduction and Tikunei HaShas after it and the part of the Tana'im and Amora'im all demonstrate his astounding knowledge" – thus as extraordinarily phrased by the Chida.

Rabbi Yechiel Halperin (ca. 1660-1746), the son of Rabbi Shlomo Halperin. A genius and kabbalist. The rabbi of Sokolov and Levertoff. A descendant of the Maharshal and Rashi.
