Israeli Air Force and Aviation Top Founder Private Collection Emanuel Zur (Zuckerberg) (1911-1991), Importand and Impressive Collection
Emanuel Zur (Zuckerberg) was one of the first pilots in the Land of Israel. Was the very top professional flight instructor in the land of Israel. Served as chief flight instructor for the Hagana and Palmach. One of the founders of the aviation company "Aviron" (Later "El-Al") and its first flight instructor. As an activist he made underground purchasing of airplanes for smuggling from Europe to The Land of Israel. In 1948 after completing his round of purchasing he got appointed as the first director of the Lod airport and had the honor of inaugurate it in its opening where David Remez, then Israeli minister of transportation, held a speech. Later on he got elected by the Israeli government to investigate the interception of an El-Al plane in the skies of Bulgaria (attached are documents and a report of the topic). Was a prime partner in the 70s in the development of the executive jet Westwind for the Israeli Aviation Industry. The collection includes rare photos of Emanuel from the beginning of Hebrew aviation from Israel and abroad. Documents and military maps from the first days of Tzahal and maps from all over the world (the European maps are with inscriptions and makings in handwriting, perhaps of attack objectives from his time as a combat air-fighter in WW2). In addition a collecton of certificates and material from his flight and aeronautics learning days in Europe. Interesting and important museum level material for collectors of Israeli aviation history.
