Ceramic jug ‘Peonies’, Five Dynasties - Modelled ceramic, in the shape of a jug, with a wide conical foot on which is placed a rounded body that narrows at the shoulders, where there is a fine nozzle and an elongated cylindrical neck, joined to the belly by a fine curved handle. The body is decorated with a continuous sgraffito scene of beautiful large-petalled peonies. The whole is covered with a fine, slightly crackled, greenish glaze. The mouthpiece has a silver reinforcement. Yaozhou Kiln, Five Dynasties (906-960) or later. Height: 18 cm; Mouth diameter: 4.5 cm; Base diameter: 9 cm
