St. Jerome penitent, 17th century - Oil on canvas. The work shows St. Jerome penitent, half kneeling, following one of the iconographic types of the conventional cultural tradition. In his left hand he holds a small carving of Christ on the Cross, while in his right hand he holds a stone. Next to him appear his most distinctive attributes: the skull, the book and the lion, usual attributes of the saint and symbols of penitence and the transience of life.  Size: 191 x 141 cm; Size with frame: 194 x 144 cm
