Large jade seal depicting ‘Chilongs’, Han dynasty - A monumental seal with a square base, carved from celadon jade with extensive veining in shades of ochre, tan and reddish brown. The upper rim features a lavish composition depicting a group of sinuous, archaic-style chilong dragons with robust musculature, whilst the four sides of the shaft are decorated in bas-relief with taotie masks and classical scrollwork. The base retains incised seal characters. Han Dynasty (206 BC–220 AD) or later. Size: 9.3 x 9.7 x 9.7 cm Weight: 1906 g
