Neruda, Pablo ”Caballo verde para la poesía”. Numbers 1-4. 1st edition. Magazine directed by Pablo Neruda , edited and printed by Concha Méndez and Manuel Altolaguirre, Madrid, 1935-1936. - These four numbers were the only ones that were published. Numbers 5 and 6, intended to be published together, although they were printed, in the absence of folding the sheets, they were not sewn when the civil war broke out on July 18, 1936, so these that we present form the entirety of published numbers of this mythical poetry magazine. Drawings by José Caballero. N° 1 (October 1935), 2, 3 and 4 (January 1936). The pages are not numbered, the magazines are in their original covers which are in good condition. They contain poems by Vicente Aleixandre, Robert Desnos, Ricardo E. Molinari, Federico García Lorca (includes the poem Nocturno del Hueco, a poem from the unpublished book Poeta en Nueva York), Miguel Hernández, Raúl González Tuñón, Arturo Serrano Plaja, Leopoldo Panero and a prologue which is not signed but is attributed to Pablo Neruda. This is the complete collection of the magazines. This copy is extremely rare. The four editions are together, bound at a later date, half bound with leather coloured ends and a hubbed spine. The copy used for the reprint was the one in the Camilo José Cela library. Includes all four editions. It is part of the “Biblioteca del 36” collection of Literary Magazines of the Second Spanish Republic, which includes: Hora de España, with 22 editions; Romance, with 24 editions, and Caballo verde para la poesía (four editions).
