Juan de Mesa y Velasco (Córdoba, 1583 - Seville, 1627) - ”Infant Saint John the Baptist” Carved and polychromed sculpture. Circa 1620. Height of the child: 47 cm. Total height: 63 cm. With a report by Dr. José Carlos Pérez Morales which, after analysing work from Juan de Mesa’s catalogue, establishes Juan de Mesa as the sculptor of this carving. Dr. Pérez Morales compares this sculpture to the Christ Child at the Faculty of Fine Art in Seville, also to the one at the Cordoba Fine Art Museum, the Child that accompanies Saint Anthony of Padua in Lora del Río and the Christ Child that accompanies Saint Joseph kept at the Chapel in the Holy Family Colegial Church in Seville.
