The upper left of the title page has a seal with the inscription “Nechemia Alter of Gur, currently in Owock”
The Gaon Rabbi Nechemia Alter (1875-1942) was the son of Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib Alter, the Admor of Gur and author of Sfat Emet, and the great-grandfather of the current Admor of Gur. From childhood Rabbi Nechemia was renowned for his genius and sharp intellect and as a diligent student. Even during the Nazi reign of terror he maintained his pious ways, until he was murdered. His only surviving child was his daughter, Yuteh Henna, who married her cousin Rabbi Simcha Bunim Alter, the previous Admor of Gur and author of Lev Simcha.
