A High-Quality Silver Hanukkah Lamp. Vienna, 19th Century.
A classic Viennese Hanukkah lamp, expertly crafted in the second half of the 19th century.
The backplate of the lamp is handmade, and displays and impressive quality of craftsmanship, with beautifully executed repousse and chase work. In the upper corners, two eagle heads holding a fluttering curtain in their beaks, providing a background for the motifs that take center stage: two large rampant lions holding between them the Tablets of the Covenant.
The Hanukkah lamp was stamped by the silversmith JC.
24.5 cm (height). 29 cm (width). 648 gr. Marked.
A classic piece of 19th-century Viennese Judaica.
