Silver Kiddush Cup. Eastern Europe, early 19th Century.
The silver kiddush cup before of us was designed and created by a professional and highly talented Eastern European silversmith. He adorned his cup with beautifully engraved and decorations.
In the center of the cup appears a wide two-handled vase, inscribed with the Hebrew words 'Cup for Wine'. The two handles of the vase are supported by two horned animals. On the other side of the cup the silversmith presented a large eagle spreading its wings to the sides. The style of his work is typically Eastern European and is executed with beauty and finesse.
7.5 cm (height), 6.5 cm (diam). 117 gr. Unmarked.
