Penned by a Quban Jew, early 20th Century.


Sefer HaBili was once a recognized work in Eastern Countries. Nowadays, there are but a few remaining manuscript copies of this composition.

The first three pages: ‘Chizui HaAtidot’ (foretelling the future) for example: “If Adar will be on the eastern side, there will be cheap and plentiful wheat in the east.
Ten additional pages: contain the book ‘HaBili’.

Eight additional pages: comprise of ‘Sha’arei Tekufot’ etc.

21 pages. 14.4 cm. Eastern script.
Cuba (Azerbaijan), Early 20th century.

The name, Eliyahu ben Avshalom appears at the end of the book. He is known as a transcriber of additional manuscripts of Jewish communities located in the mountainous regions.

Owner’s stamp: Binyamin son of Yosef of Quba Gilani.
