Alexander Nikolayevich Pypin (1833-1904)-Russian literary critic, ethnographer, academician of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1898), Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences (1904). Russian Russian literature in 1857, he defended his dissertation on the topic ”Essay on the literary history of old Russian stories and fairy tales” to obtain the title of master of Russian literature. In 1860, he became a Professor at the Department of General history of literature of the faculty of history and Philology of St. Petersburg University. He collaborated in the magazines ”Sovremennik” (in which from 1863 to 1866 he was an editor), ”Vestnik Evropy”, ”Otechestvennye Zapiski”. The representative of the cultural and historical school, considered fiction in connection with the history of social thought.
