The series "Complete works of Russian authors" (1846-1856) became available to a wide readership, as it was very cheap (at 1 ruble per volume). It was planned to publish more than 100 volumes. Over 10 years, 70 volumes of more than 35 Russian writers were published, including K. I. Batyushkov, P. I. Bogdanovich, D. V. Venevitinov, A. S. Griboyedov, D. Davydov, G. R. Derzhavin, M. Yu.Lermontov, D. I. Fonvizin, and others. Some works of some writers, such as A. O. Ablesimov, A. D. Kantemir and V. K. Trediakovsky, were published for the first time. The collection of literary works in three volumes of Catherine II was also published for the first time.
