Letter from the Jewish heads of the community in Mogador (Essaouira), during the period of the Vichy government who joined actions with the Nazi's in 1942.
Letter from the heads of the community of Mogador (today Essaouira) in Morocco, in which they give instructions of conducts to the members of the community during the period of the WWII, under the Vichy government, who enacted discrimination laws against the Jews of Morocco and imposed on them oppressive work.
[1] page 18x19cm. hand written letter, Judeo-Arabic language, with stamp of the community.
Folding marks, stained, general condition good.
Background: in the summer of 1940 the Morocco government was taken over by the French Vichy government, who collaborated with the Nazis. They imposed discrimination laws against the Jews of Morocco for forced labor. The Jews of Morocco were released by the United States army in November of 1942 and the laws they imposed on them were annulled by 06. 1943.
