Yossele Shochmacher: This is a prominent public affair in the early 1960s in Israel, named after Yossele Shochmacher, born in 1952. The affair took place after his ultra-Orthodox grandfather, whom the boy was entrusted with, refused to return him to his parents because of their secular way of life. Yossele was hidden in Israel and then smuggled out of Israel until he was located by the Mossad and returned to his parents. The affair increased the polarization between ultra-Orthodox and secular Jews in Israel.
