חכם אהרן מעלי הכהן טוויל - נולד לאמו ולאביו חכם אליהו בארם צובא, היא חאלב שבסוריה. הוא עלה לארץ ישראל והתיישב בירושלים, שם נודע בין חכמי ירושלים שעסקו בתורת הקבלה, נפטר ביום כ"ו סיוון תרע"ו ונקבר בירושלים.
משפחת "הכהן מעלי" היא משפחת כהנים מארם צובה, המיוחסת לעלי הכהן. כיום רוב בני המשפחה נקראים בשם כהן-טוויל.
