Rabbi Ya'akov Ben-Zion HaCohen Mendelssohn (1875-1941), Rabbi of Leeds and Rabbi of Gateshead and Glasgow, Scotland At the end of his life, the Great Beit Midrash in New York, the author of Sha'arei Zion, , "The Book of Hunting," "Midrash Yavetz," and "Mishneh Ya'avetz" (35). Member of the General Rabbis' Association. Born in Kreisburg, Latvia, in 1899, he emigrated to London, served as a police officer in Leeds. In 1904, he was appointed rabbi in Gateshead and in 1906, as rabbi in Glasgow. In 1915, he emigrated to the United States and settled in New York, where he served as rabbi of the Great Beit Midrash.
