Al Capone’s Personally Owned Dining Room Tablecloth Swatch
Al Capone’s Personally Owned Dining Room Tablecloth Swatch. From the Estate of Al Capone, CAG Encapsulated. Provenance: His Granddaughter Barbara Mae Capone.Swatch, 1" x 1". A swatch of Al Capone's personally owned tablecloth, sourced directly from Al Capone's Granddaughter Barbara Mae Capone. Encapsulated by CAG, measuring 2.375'' x 3.375''.As to be expected from an Italian mob figure of Capone’s stature, a lot of his life revolved around entertaining his friends, family and mobsters with food & drinks. The planning of many criminal events likely occurred around his opulent dinner table. Was this tablecloth used to serve the final meal enjoyed by a fellow mobster? Was this used to serve the dinner at which the Chicago Outfit planned out The Valentine’s Day Massacre or could this tablecloth have been used during the holidays at the Capone’s. Just think of the people who could have enjoyed a meal at his home!Born in 1899 to poor immigrant parents in Brooklyn, New York, Al Capone went on to become the most infamous gangster in American history. In 1917, he got into a fight at a bar where he was working as a bouncer and was slashed in the face with a knife. This was how he acquired the name "Scarface". In 1920 during the height of Prohibition, Capone's multi-million dollar Chicago bootlegging, prostitution and gambling operation dominated the organized crime scene. Al Capone is best known for his violence and ruthlessness in the elimination of his rivals.
