Set of Rödelheim Machzorim - First Edition. Sought-After by Rabbinic Leaders of the Generations

"If not for him, the hymns would have already been lost and no longer recited in our generations." (The Chatam Sofer about these machzorim)

Sefer Krovot - better known as Machzor Rödelheim - Set of [8] machzorim for prayers for the annual cycle. With elucidation and translation by renowned commentator Rabbi Wolf b"r Shimshon z"l Ish Heidenheim 'הרוו"ה, ' who was extensively praised by rabbinic leaders of his generation from all circles (see below). Ashkenaz text. First edition. Rödelheim, 1800-1805. One volume of the set is lacking.

Before us is the first edition of [Rabbi Wolf Heidenheim] the Rav"a's commentary, the most important and renowned machzorim, later printed in hundreds of editions(!). The machzorim contain all the prayers and hymns, and underwent the Rav"a's precise proofreading. He also elucidated them well, as appears in the title page: " ... precise and well-elucidated, and translated into German by Wolf b"r Shimon z"l Ish Heidenheim, with all matters currently customary, and all the laws and all the prayers." These machzorim merited enthusiastic approbations from rabbinic leaders of all sectors. The Chatam Sofer expressed about them and about their author that "If not for him ('the complete sage Rabbi Wolf Heidenheim'), the hymns would have already been lost and no longer recited in our generations." Chassidic leaders considered the siddur very important as well. When the Alter Rebbe of Lubavitch published his famous siddur, he instructed that it be proofread according to the siddur of the renowned sage R' Wolf Heidenheim that was printed in Rödelheim, "because it is very precise and extremely well proofread."
