HaTanach B'Temunot. Abel Pann. Jerusalem-Vienna. 1926

HaTanach B'Temunot shel Abel Pann -"Greatest Jewish Artist." First part - from Creation through the flood. Published by Julius Seltzer's Chevrat E"Y L'Hotza'ot Omanutit, Vienna, 1926. Large, impressive facsimile edition. Breathtaking color pastel pictures.

Including 24 original pictures in color made by the author and printed by lithograph. Each picture is stamped in print. A protective leaf printed with a description in English and in German is inserted before each picture. Biblical verses in Hebrew and in English.

In his pictures, Pann uses Oriental figures based on residents of Jerusalem, with the European perspective of the Orient as having an aspect of barbarity and representation of biblical figures as contemporary residents of the Orient, infusing this strange mixture of authentic jewelry and clothing with aspects of Parisian "Orientalism."

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Abel Pann.
