Set of Ramba"m. Vienna, 1835-1842. Rare Leather Bindings with Unique Pictures

Set with 12 parts of the series of sefarim Ya"d HaChazakah L'HaRamba"m - among the few fundamental sefarim accepted across the entire Jewish Diaspora from the time it was completed. Vienna, Anton Schmidt Press, 1835-1842. First edition of Sefer Kovetz al Yad HaChazakah by R' Nachum Tribshush.

First edition, adorned with approbations by gedolei hador: the Chatam Sofer, Rabbi Nachum Tribitch - av beit din of Nikolsburg (who added his kuntress to this edition), and Rabbi Elazar HaLevi Ish Horowitz, av beit din of Vienna.

The eight parts are bound in matching leather bindings with a beautiful picture on both sides of the bindings (apparently made using a stencil). The front of the binding has a picture of a synagogue with a star of David, and on the back is a type of antique jug.

The first volume has the signature of Rabbi Chananel b"r Moshe Pilitz, apparently from the Pilitz family of Veszprém, Hungary.

Details of the volumes:

Part I - Mada, Ahavah: [9], 116, [1]; 13 leaf.

Part II - Zmanim: [1], 156, [2] leaf.

Part III - Nashim: [1], 140; 13 [should be 15] leaf.

Part VII/2 - Taharah: 95, [1] leaf.

Part VIII - Mishpatim, Shoftim: [1], 168 leaf.

Lacking Part VII with Nezikin and Kinyan. The volumes here are numbered on their spines I-VIII, which demonstrates that even when the bindings were prepared, Part VII was not in the set. (If it had been in the set, the volumes should have been labelled I-VII, IX.)

Total of [8] volumes, 38 cm.

Overall fine-very fine condition. Stains. Minimal usage marks. The bindings are in fine condition, worn and somewhat chafed. The binding of Part I is partially detached. Light blemish in the binding of Part VIII.
