Simlah Chadashah. Copy that Belonged to the Leading Geonim of Hungary: Rabbi Daniel Prostitz, Rabbi Zussman Sofer and Others

Sefer Simlah Chadashah, Tevuot Shor U'Bechor Shor, among the most important sefarim on the laws of ritual slaughter, by the gaon Rabbi Alexander Sender Schorr. Vienna, 1796.

This copy belonged to the leading geonim of Hungary, from among the major personalities closest to the Chatam Sofer, some of whom left their signed handwritten notes and many glosses along the length of the sefer, including: the gaon and Kabbalist Rabbi Daniel Prostitz, ra'ava"d of Pressburg, closest friend (and shadchan) of the Chatam Sofer; the renowned gaon Rabbi Zussman Sofer, av beit din of Paks and close disciple - like a son - of the Chatam Sofer, and his son Rabbi Shmuel Binyamin Sofer,  av beit din of Derecske, all among the greatest Pressburg-grown Torah scholars - and of Hungary as a whole.

Details of the signatures and owner's notations:

* "This sefer belongs to the rabbi, the great light, famous around the whole world [!], rabbi of the entire Diaspora, Rabbi Daniel Prostitz,   dayan here in Pressburg."

* "The youth Zussman son of Rabbi Mordechai Fishel Sofer ..."

* "Bought with Hashem's help, Zussman son of Rabbi Mordechai Fishel Sofer ..."

" The youth Shmuel Binyamin son of the gaon Rabbi Eliezer Zussman Sofer, here in Paks, in the year בונה ירושלים ..."

Additional signatures and notes:

* "The youth Moshe Hirsch Hertzberg ... here in Pressburg." Signed again in a different way.

* "The youth Chaim Yosef Weinberger."

*"This sefer belongs to ... the famous gaon among the sages, Rabbi Shmuel Binyamin Sofer, shlit"a, av beit din of Derecske ... the youth Yuda Leib Paskesz son of the tzaddik Chaim zlh"h."

The leaves in this sefer bear [15] glosses, some lengthy, by various writers.
