Sefer Pitchei Y-h, Prague, 1609. First Edition

Asarah She'arim LeFetach V'Sha'ar L'Chochmat HaKabbalah by Kabbalist Rabbi Yissachar Ber son of Rabbi Petachiah of Kremnitz. Prague, 1609.

The ten she'arim are arranged according to the ten sephirot. Kabbalist Rabbi Yissachar ber b"r Petachyah of Kremnitz was one of the earliest Ashkenazic Kabbalists, and he authored important sefarim in Kabbalah per Rabbi Moshe Cordovero's doctrine. These include Mekor Chochmah and Yesh Sachar.

The title page states: "And in this he will enter in a spring, into his magnum opus on my commentary on Sefer HaZohar which I composed with Hashem's help and I pray to Hashem to bring to print."

The sefer was originally meant to be a foreword to his magnum opus on the Zohar, but his commentary was not printed. There are theories that he hid his work after he became acquainted with the Ar"i's Kabbalah (refer to M. Benayahu, Toldot HaAr"i p. 44).

The author became acquainted with the Ar"i's Kabbalah due to letters from Rabbi Shlomo Slumil, son-in-law of Rabbi Yisrael Saruk. Tradition maintains that he was a spark from the Ar"i's soul, as brought in Sefer Shibchei HeAr"i, in the letter Rabbi Shlomo Shlumil sent him 'Who can compare to you, the knight among the entire Jewish people in Ashkenaz ... My heart tells me with complete certainty that [you] are that same sage that Rabbi Chaim [Vital] stated is a reincarnation of the Ar"i, z"l ...'
