Semichah Letter for Shechitah Handwritten by the Rishon LeTziyon Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe Ayish, for his Son, Rabbi Chaim Yehudah

"Ya'akov is a pure man with a merciful soul, complete and perfect, this is Sinai, entirely k'hadra"t, a messenger of Hashem" (the Chid"a)

Lengthy certificate [6 pages!] - semichah for ritual slaughter for Rabbi Chaim Yehudah Iyash, of the Ferrara dynasty of sages (transcribed), with a lengthy semichah handwritten and signed by the Rishon LeTziyon Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe Iyash, author of Shevet Yehudah - one of the gedolei hador in the Chid"a's time, who resided in Italy at the time to print his ancestor's sefarim. Ferrara, Italy, 1793 [chronogram: "חכמ"ה ודע"ת"].

The first part of the certificate (four and a half pages) consists of a transcription of the semichah document for Rabbi Chaim Yehudah, of the dynasty of Ferrara sages, from three Ferrara sages, Rabbi Yehudah Chai b"r David Meldolah, Rabbi Shabtai Elchanan b"r Matzliach Pissaro, and Rabbi Yosef David b"r Ya'akov Chai Bassan. This ktav was given on 26 Sivan, 1793.

The second part of the certificate (a page and a half) is the ktav semichah handwritten by his sacred father, Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe Iyash. The father demanded that the city's sages test his son and affirm his suitability before he does, and only then will he write that he also affirms his suitability. This addition was written on Rosh Chodesh Tammuz of that same year.
