Unique Content: Lamentation Letter Handwritten by the 'Chazon Yechezkel' upon the Murder of his Young Grandson. Unprinted - ”Lament, sigh and moan” Historic letter with rare and important content, entirely handwritten and signed by the geon hageonim  Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky, author of Chazon Yechezkel , while he was serving as av beit din in London. The letter is addressed to the Chazon Yechezkel's dear friend, the gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Botchko, rosh yeshivah of Eitz Chaim in Montreux (Switzerland). It discusses the Chazon Yechezkel's grandson, Yonatan, who was killed during the War of Independence. London, Tishrei, 1948. Since its inception as a nation, the Jewish people has suffered from murder and persecution by those who arise to destroy it. Parents have been slaughtered along with their children in sanctification of Hashem's Name - men, women and children. Numerous bitter lamentations have been written over the generations by gedolei Yisrael , some of which are recited on Tisha B'Av and public fast days. This is a touching letter of lament in which the Chazon Yechezkel, one of the Jewish leaders of his generation, mourns the death of his grandson, a delightful boy, by an Arab bullet, right in the middle of Shabbat. The letter was written in the style of a v'nehi lamentation, and it is dotted along its entirety with the Chazon Yechezkel's teardrops. To the best of our examination, this letter has never been published. It is rare to find letters from gedolei Yisrael  in which they expose their feelings at difficult times. In this letter, the Chazon Yechezkel shares his deepest emotions with his close friend from when he received the bitter news of his beloved grandson's murder. He explains in the letter that due to concern for his health, his family tried to hide the news from him, but he found out incidentally, and he is writing to his dear friend to express himself, ”And I said: I will share my pain with a person close to me, perhaps it will help a little.” Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for brief biographies of the gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky  and  the addressee, the gaon Rabbi Yerachmiel Eliyahu Botchko .
