Amsterdam Sha"s. Benveniste Press, 1644-1647
Ten volumes comprising 23 tractates of the Babylonian Talmud from the ancient Amsterdam edition, with commentaries by Rash"i, Tosafot and Piskei Tosafot, Rabbeinu Asher and Peirush HaMishnah L'HaRambam. Immanuel Benveniste Press, Amsterdam. [1644-1647.]
Before us are most of the tractates of the Talmud, from an important and ancient edition printed by Jews. In this edition, corrections were made, including from the censor's errors and distortions. Printing this edition lasted four years, and it was the masterpiece of Benveniste's renowned Amsterdam press, which was known for its special quality. Many printers attempted to imitate the books printed there. (Refer to R.N.N. Rabinowitz, Ma'amar al Hadpasat HaTalmud, pp. 93-95 about this edition.)
For a detailed list of the tractates in this lot, refer to Winner's Hebrew website.
Bound at the end of Tractate Horiyot:ֲ Shev Shemaiteta, Lemberg, 1824. With owners' stamps.
