Seder HaTefillot. Amsterdam, 1771. Signature of the Publisher, R' Jacob da Silva Mendez
Seder HaTefillot, prayers for Shabbat and weekdays, per the Sephardic custom. Brought to print by Jacob da Silva Mendez, with his signature (in a foreign language).
At the end of the prayer part (page 159b), there is a signature by publisher Jacob da Silva Mendez, cantor of the Sephardic synagogue of Amsterdam in the late 18th century.
Before us is a siddur which was printed for the community of conversos from Spain who immigrated to Amsterdam, and on leaves 156-157 there are hashkavah prayers for those who were burned in sanctification of G-d's Name (among the conversos). Leaf 93 and leaf 158 contain a prayer for salvation in Portuguese. There is a calendar for 114 (!) years, from 1770-1883, on the last six leaves, with instructions in Portuguese.
[1], 159, [6] leaves. 16 cm. High-quality paper.
Very fine condition. Taped tear without lack. Restored original leather binding, with the original spine.
